American car parts

The American Automotive Market

The United States has long been one of the most attractive and diverse markets for car manufacturers. The world's largest automotive corporations, such as General Motors, Ford Motor, and Chrysler Group, are located in the USA. The automotive industry is of exceptional importance to the country's economy. Currently, the United States is the second-largest car producer in the world. The automotive market in the USA is characterized by some diesel engine cars, with the dominance of vehicles with powerful gasoline engines of over 5 liters capacity, equipped with automatic transmissions.

The American car industry is dominated by the so-called Detroit Big Three – the three largest American car manufacturing companies based in or near Detroit, Michigan — General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Stellantis (which includes American brands such as Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM, and others).

American cars are usually extremely spacious, exceptionally comfortable, and well-equipped. They are characterized by a simple but robust construction, which makes them easy to repair. This is especially true for American gasoline engines, known for their reliability and long lifespan. They are easily adaptable for LPG installation.

Original Parts for American Cars and Their Alternatives

It is important for every car owner to distinguish between two main categories of parts: original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts for American cars and their alternatives. We will discuss this below:

  • Original parts for American cars are characterized by high quality and durability. They are specifically designed for particular models, ensuring seamless integration with other vehicle components. In the case of the 2407.PL store for American car parts, customers have access to a wide range of parts that meet these standards.
  • The store also offers alternatives, which may be more affordable. The choice between original parts and alternatives often depends on the individual needs and budget of the driver. Alternatives can be a good solution for those looking for more economical options, but it is important to thoroughly check their quality and compatibility with the vehicle. The quality of alternatives can vary significantly depending on the manufacturer, requiring consumers to conduct more thorough research and make informed choices. Some alternatives may not fit the vehicle perfectly, leading to compatibility issues or the need for additional modifications.

In conclusion, both original parts for American cars and their alternatives have their place in the market. It is crucial to understand the needs of your vehicle and choose parts that best meet these requirements, considering quality, durability, and price. The 2407.PL store is a valuable resource, offering a wide selection of both original and alternative parts, making it easier for owners of American cars to keep them in excellent condition.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet, founded in 1911 and part of General Motors, is the fourth most popular car brand in the world. The first model, the Classic Six Series C, was created in the founding year of the company. Important models include the Camaro, Corvette, Chevelle, Aveo, Impala, and Volt.

Cadillac

Cadillac, an American brand of luxury passenger cars, was founded in 1902 in Detroit by Henry Leland. The company's name derives from Antonine de la Motte Cadillac, a Frenchman who served under Louis XIV and is recognized as the founder of Detroit.

Cadillac's first model, the Model A with a 10 HP single-cylinder engine, appeared in 1903. In 1909, the company joined the GM conglomerate. Cadillac has always focused on high quality and luxury, introducing innovations such as electric lighting, starters, V8 engines, air conditioning, and dashboard-controlled headlights. In 1930, Cadillac introduced a revolutionary V16 engine in the Sixty Special model.

The modern Cadillac lineup includes models such as the Cadillac CTS, XTS, ELR, SRX, and Escalade.

Pontiac

Established in 1893 as the Pontiac Buggy Company, Pontiac is an American automotive company named after the chief of the Ottawa tribe, a leader of the 18th-century uprising and also the namesake of the city of Pontiac in Michigan.

Pontiac's history began in 1906 when their cars were seen as cheaper versions of Oakland models. Since 1926, the brand has been part of General Motors. In response to its image of making cars for older people in the late 1950s, Pontiac decided to change its image, introducing sporty models like the GTO (1964) and Firebird (1967), which became iconic in the automotive world.

The Aztek model, produced from 2001-2005, is one of Pontiac's most controversial models due to its unpopular styling, confirmed by a poll by the British newspaper Telegraph, which named it the ugliest car in the world.

In 2009, Pontiac declared bankruptcy, and the last model was the G6. Despite this, the brand is recognized as one of the forerunners of the "muscle car" era and a key player in the automotive market.

Tesla

Tesla, a pioneer in the production of luxury and sports electric vehicles, derives its name from the Serbian engineer and inventor, Nikola Tesla.

Founded in 2003 by Elon Musk, Tesla spent five years developing its first model. The Tesla Roadster, created in collaboration with Lotus Cars, shows similarities to the Lotus Evora and shares design elements with the Lotus Elise. The production of the Roadster, an electric car competing with gasoline sports vehicles, started in 2008.

In 2009, Tesla introduced a liftback model capable of traveling 300 miles on a single charge without losing sports performance. Production of the Model S began in 2012. In 2015, Tesla started the production of a new model – the Model X, a crossover that can accommodate up to seven people.

Vehicles are not the only production segment of Tesla; the company also engages in manufacturing lithium-ion batteries for brands like Toyota and Daimler.

Hummer

The well-known American manufacturer of off-road vehicles, Hummer, originates from AM General. Its history dates back to 1979, when the U.S. government announced a competition to create the new M998 Series HMMWV vehicles for the army. Competitors included Chrysler, Teledyne Continental, and AM General — a part of the AMC conglomerate. AM General won the contract, and in 1980, it built the first prototype, which received army approval. The company received an order to supply 55,000 such vehicles, which soldiers nicknamed 'Humvee'.

In 1992, AM General created a civilian version of the vehicle, known as the Hummer H1. Arnold Schwarzenegger received the first unit. In 1999, General Motors acquired the rights to the brand and introduced subsequent versions of the Humvee: H2 and H3. The production of civilian Hummers ended in 2010.

Lincoln

Lincoln, an American brand of luxury passenger cars, was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland in honor of President Abraham Lincoln. The first model, V8, was introduced in 1920. In 1922, the company was acquired by Ford, becoming the most prestigious brand of the conglomerate and a main rival of GM's Cadillac.

In 1939, Lincoln introduced the Continental model, which evolved through 9 generations. In a 1963 Lincoln Continental convertible, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. The Town Car model replaced the Continental in 2002. Lincoln's first SUV, the Navigator, debuted in 1998, and its third generation appeared in 2007.

Lincoln's cars are produced not only in the USA but also in Mexico since 2005 and in Canada since 2006.

GMC

GMC, a renowned manufacturer of sport-utility vehicles, off-road, and heavy trucks, traces its origins back to 1902 with the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company, founded by Max Grabowsky. It was one of the first companies to produce trucks in the United States.

In 1909, General Motors acquired GMC, and in 1912, the GMC Truck brand was first presented at the New York auto show.

The CCKW truck model (with a payload capacity of 2.5 tons) played a key role in the American army. The name GMC Truck was used until 1996, when the decision was made to remove the word 'Truck' from the name. Among GMC's prominent models is the Typhoon with a 4.3-liter V6 engine producing about 300 horsepower, achieving 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The pickup version of this model reached 100 km/h a second faster, which was an impressive performance for a vehicle with the appearance of a family off-roader.

Oldsmobile

Oldsmobile, one of the oldest automotive brands in the USA, was founded in 1897. Its first model was the Curved Dash, produced just two years after the company's founding and the first car assembled on a production line, even before the Ford Model T.

As the first mass producer of cars in the USA, Oldsmobile produced an impressive number of 425 Curved Dash models by 1901. General Motors acquired the brand in 1908. In 1940, Oldsmobile introduced the first automatic transmission in one of its models in the USA. In 1956, the Tornado became the first American car with front-wheel drive.

In 1995, Oldsmobile introduced the Aurora model, aimed at improving the company's finances, equipped with V6 and V8 engines from Cadillac. Unfortunately, this model did not gain popularity among Americans. Eventually, in 2004, the Oldsmobile brand was discontinued.

Ram

Ram Trucks, an American manufacturer of pickups and commercial vehicles, was founded in 2010 and is currently part of the international conglomerate Stellantis, based in Auburn Hills.

The origins of RAM date back to 1981 when the brand was established as a division of Dodge. The name "RAM" was a tribute to the 1933 RAM hood ornament. Due to its rapidly growing popularity, Dodge decided to separate RAM as an independent line of trucks. Over time, RAM became one of the most recognizable brands in the automotive industry, rivaling icons like the Rolls Royce Flying Lady or Mack's Bulldog.

The first RAM trucks were available in two-door, extended two-door, and four-door crew cab variants. In 1988, RAM became more economical with the introduction of electronic fuel injection, significantly increasing the brand's annual vehicle sales to 100,000 units.

Plymouth

Plymouth, an American car brand, was created by Chrysler in 1928 to compete with cheaper Ford and Chevrolet models. Despite initially higher pricing than its competitors, Plymouth offered innovations such as standard hydraulic brakes. In the 1940s, the brand ranked second in sales in the USA. In the mid-1950s, Plymouth was recognized as the manufacturer of the most durable cars in its class, but quickly lost its reputation due to corrosion problems and poor assembly quality.

In the following decade, the Plymouth brand gradually lost its position, but regained renown and popularity with the introduction of the Duster (1970) and Valiant (1974) models. Also, noteworthy is the 1997 Prowler model, which stood out with its original design and a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 214 horsepower.

Ultimately, in 2001, due to price competition from Dodge and a lack of unique models, Chrysler decided to discontinue the production of Plymouth.
